McDonald's Fan-Favorite Desserts Return Today

McDonald's long-awaited spring harbingers have arrived! The Oreo Shamrock McFlurry and Shamrock Shake are available nationwide today

Since 1970, St. Patrick's Day's Shamrock Shake has been a holiday favorite. McDonald's vanilla shake with mint-flavored green syrup.

Both snacks arrived early at my local McDonald's. After McDonald's announces a debut date, start watching your local store because goods

The Shamrock shake is a bright green. It's not garish. A domed lid kept the whipped cream on top. The clear cup displayed a well-mixed shake

Taste: Pleasant vanilla with a dash of mint. The green and mint seem more marketing than flavor. I'm astonished by the mint's subtlety and sweetness.

The McFlurry's spoon stands upright, proving its thickness. The Oreo chunks are more plentiful than the shake, but the green drizzle is gaudy.

Taste: Cookies first. Oreos stay crunchy and have the right blend of big and little pieces. The huge pieces are too enormous and melt

A Shamrock McFlurry won't taste like toothpaste-flavored ice cream and Oreos, but the Shamrock Shake has more mint. On any other day

"Our shake and soft-serve ice cream machines undergo heat treatment cycles every 24 hrs—they're disassembled, sanitized and cleaned every

14 days," McDonald's said on its Facebook page in response to frequent ice cream machine outages. Keep trying if you can't obtain one."
