Oreo Is Bringing Back Its Most Requested Flavor

A press release states that Red Velvet Oreos, the cookie brand's "most requested flavor," will be available for a limited time on Sept. 12.

A layer of cream cheese frosting-flavored creme covers two red velvet "basecakes," based on the popular cake.

Red Velvet Oreos debuted in February 2015 and were discontinued in 2020 to make place for new tastes. Fans have demanded a comeback since.

In June, Instagram users demanded a red velvet Oreo redux in response to an unrelated release. "BRING BACK THE RED VELVET OREOS!!!"

Oreo teased the flavor's comeback on Instagram on Sept. 1 by sharing a video featuring Oreo cookies on a bright red

background with a checkerboard, martini, apple, and octopus. Caption teased: "If you don't know, you'll know soon…"

Instagram followers predicted cherry, cherry pie, sweet apple, Swedish Fish, and red velvet for the brand's

latest flavor introduction in the comments. Some wild hypotheses included "Vampire Oreos" and "octopus flavor."
